After having to stop down and concentrate on cooking duties for our reserves, and missing out on one local derby, we had our own "even nearer" local derby against next door neighbours in Whitworths.
Jamie had 4 reserve team players taken with Rob for the first team squad, and looking at the Whitworths players coming past me "burger hut" they had a good mixture of experience, youth and quality in their squad.
I cannot give an accurate match report on the game but i will get one from jamie Chatfield and post it on here once he has done it.
I did know our lads took the lead on a couple of occassions, and did battle very hard, and were leading 3-2 with 10 mins to go, I think!!!!.
I did know we were under a lot of pressure second half, and had to really defend very well, against whitworths constant pressure.
Whitworths scored on 90 mins to equalise, and then scored the winner deep deep deep deep into injury time, to the delight of the huge numbers of whitworths 1st team players and supporters who had massed in front of the club house.
The roar they gave once the winner was scored sounded like there was 200 people watching the game, very vocal and really produced a fantastic atmosphere in the ground, (albeit the wrong result from our point of view)
On reflecting about the game, our lads done very well considering, and it was hard for them to take the loss, but we must bounce back quickly to stop this run of defeats, and they have another local derby next saturday away at Irchester.
Well done to the Whitworths boys on their win, enjoyed the banter with their committee, and players 1st team and reserves.
Many thanks to all who had drinks from the bar, tea/coffee and everyone who had lots of food whilst being down the ground from Whitworths, very much appreciate your support.
A cracking atmosphere during this local derby, one of the best I have seen and heard for many a while. Thats how a local derby should be, game played in great spirit, no dirty bad tackles, both teams wanting to do well, and sets of fans being vocal and getting behind their teams.
Great advert for UCL Reserve team football in my view.
Well done to both teams.
Hard work, but thoroughly enjoyed the day (apart from the result of course)
