Where do I start... at some point it looked like there would be an outburst of football during the violence.
The ref clearly had a shocker, no doubts about that. But it was the way the teams reacted to that and how prima-donna ish both sets of players were.
I would like to think that with one or two exceptions, clubs within our competition might get round the issue of an official having an off night by playing a bit of football and trying to score goals.
If this is the standard of the Unibond League we should stop be-littling the quality of the UCL and start appreciating that we do have some teams who want to entertain supporters.
The UCL Less physical than the Unibond ? absolutely Less skilful ? difficult to tell on that evidence Less entertaining ? definitely not Less big time ? thank goodness, yes. I like to go to a game where peoples whole lives dont depend on the outcome and have some fun. For such a terrible derby on the pitch, there were still some in the crowd who felt happy behaving like chumps.
In summary, it was a shocking game (but after talking to some Stamford fans this hasn't been unusual this season) with aggression both on and off the field.
And double the price I usually pay...
