Whitworths 1 Doughboys 2
A good game for us to win - our defence was magnificent in the second half when Whitworths threw everything, including the kitchen sink, at us!
The crowd, I reckon, was around 700 (mostly Town fans), maybe even more - absolutely fantastic!
Happy Christmas, everybody!

Apparently I vastly underestimated - according to a post on our forum, the Whitworths secretary said there were 1,150 there!

Cynicism will get you nowhere! Actually, on reflection, the 1,150 is probably no exaggeration - given that the crowd was several people deep all around the pitch. Indeed, my father-in- law - amongst others - estimated it at around 1,000. It was fantastic to see such a massive crowd at a UCL match - and I think it's good for the league as a whole, so don't knock it. When Yaxley get an attendance anywhere near it, you'll hear a big cheer from me! The Rev.

Nice to see such support in the UCL.
It is certainly something to shout about and not rebuffed.
I hope all the WTFC supporters follow their team to Blisworth in early Feb, you will all be made most welcome.

Derby gate best for almost 30 years Research suggests that the Christmas Eve derby between Whitworths and Wellingborough drew the biggest attendance for a United Counties League match in almost thirty years.
The London Road gate of 1,150 has been bettered in that time by FA Cup and Vase ties while the Division One Cup final between Stevenage and Thrapston in 1981 was watched by 1,180. The last time a higher attendance has been traced for a league match was in April 1976 when a top of the table match in the Premier Division between Spalding and Stamford was watched by a crowd of 1,385.

Great news for UCL1 but where are all the fans in the premier division?
