as a goalkeeping coach, I was asked who is the best keeper around the ucl level. I have to say that the Huntingdon Town keeper Ryan Hunt at 18 yrs old has the best ability I have seen for a number of years. He will develop and go on to play Ryman or higher

Kevin,
I am inclined to disagree with you on that point. Ryan is still too young and inexperienced at the moment. He needs to grow a bit yet as he is small in stature to be a contender. Perhaps in a few years time maybe.
The league table says it all and with Huntingdon Town's position there is no way you can say that he is the best around.
I know he seems to get mentioned every week in the local paper but there are far better keepers out there at this present time. He's also a bit quiet so in time and with more confidence, perhaps.
I still reckon the best keeper Huntingdon ever had was Andy Kunman. Love him or hate him he was the best by far

Are you talking specifically about Div 1?

what has huntingdons league position got to do with ryan not being the best goalkeeper in the league. Huntingdon have some great talent and will be the up and coming team for the future. they are a young squad with a great groundsman

Nobody said anything about league position. the question was is this just division 1 or the whole of the league (as in where are we including goalkeepers from?) Huntingdon is a great set up, plenty of potential, but the groundsman has his work cut out.

Huntingdon goalie ? Not tall enough from what I've seen. We've put 7 goals past him this season and he looks like he needs to grow a bit !
If he has a growth spurt in the next year or so then it may help but otherwise he'll never be anything other than ordinary. What percentage of keepers in the game are under 5ft 10 ?

rob,
its not really a matter of size. and if you had a clue about football you would realise that a team cannot be judged on the goalkeeper. if his defence is laclustre then what chance does a goalkeeper have? he will be one of the best goalkeepers around.

the best thing about ryan is that he is young and is a quality keeper. he will get better as he gets older

I have watched Huntingdon for a number of years and I would put their Goalkeepers in this order
1. Andy Kunman 2. Karl Yezek - (Back from a long injury and a real contender for the shirt at this moment in time) 3. Christ Benton 4. Ryan Hunt

No pressure for the young lad then, get off his case and let him learn his trade!!!

Be wary of the intention of the “Poster” at the top. Get the feeling that this "pressure" may have been started by persons to elicit responses from others ? Unfortunately, sometimes the responses received back are not the ones you want to read.

I have to say that i agree with James' pecking order of gaolkeepers although i have not seen Karl play before, although i have heard he is very good. Lets be honest, it would be nice to think he was a contender for the shirt but no matter how well he plays there are particular reasons why he wont get in the first team. Those in and around the club will probably know why. In my opinion Ryan is an OK 'keeper although for aleague as physical as the UCL i do think he lacks stature- his weakest point probably being coming for crosses, something you need to be able to do at the UCL level. As for playing in the Ryman league- cant say i agree with that, there are a lot of very good young goalkeepers around and i think the lad at Eynesbury is probably one of the better ones in the league but perhaps the league doesnt have that many good keepers?

Be wary of the intention of the “Poster” at the top. Any chance of expanding what you mean by that a bit further Marcus? You can email me or register and PM me if you want.

steve spruels at bugbrooke is one on the very best keepers in the 1st or prem divisions. you can tell a goalie's standard when a mistake from them is a surprise and spruelsy doesn't give many surprises (despite xmas eve at chenecks!!!)

went to have a look at ryan last night, saved two certain goals, is definatley one for the future. anyone who knows about goalkeeping will know its all about angles and handling, not about size. he kicks well, talks well, good kid
