Any idea what's happened to them ? League Champions last year and now looking like a mid-table finish this year - and ten goals conceded in their last two games.

Sileby are really struggling with players at the moment and have done since Christmas. Injuries and work commitments of key players seem to be the main problems. I watched them last Tuesday and looking at their team there were only 3 players from the side that won the league last year and the rest were players from the reserves and U18s. Talking of which watch out for a lad called Will Moffat who is only 17 and looks very good so far.... Their top striker Adam Taylor has joined Wellingborough recently giving in to the lure of the heavy wage packet....
I have also heard that the manager is leaving at the end of the year and hotly tipped to take over at Wellingborough.....

I have also heard that the manager is leaving at the end of the year and hotly tipped to take over at Wellingborough..... Petts could be in for a busy year then next season, he's been linked with both Wellingborough Town and Fords this afternoon alone.

I think not going up really hurt them last year. All sorts of reasons been banded about, no money, lack of ambition. A couple of players have left and now there struggling. Petts will probably c out season, dont think he will be there next year.
If the rumours are true, he will end up at the dog and duck.

and i think you will find that Shayne Geary will step into the breach at Sielby.... even though he feels he can manage at a higher level...

Sileby were never interested in going up. They never had the players or the money to fund the hard standing needed around the ground.
Why would Geary go there if htere is no money there?

By all accounts, Petts is one of the reason they have struggled this year from what I've been told. Nothing done for pre-season (apart from hi-jacking a couple of friendlies already set up for the ressies) and a reluctance to bring in players not already part of his "chosen ones". I'm certain that many of the players at Sileby will be glad to see him at WTFC next season. Hopefully in Division one.

This kind of posting should mean members only. Personal attacks like this are out of order, what was a fair question has been turned into some very unfair comments

I dont know where you have your information from but its clearly not right Mr Best. I watched several friendlies for the first team away at Mirlees, Stoney Stratford and Long Buckby for instance that were 'first team' friendlies. With regard to players there are at least 8 new players that I can think of that have been signed - Tyrone kent, Craig Ferguson, Mick Mullen, Simon Skipworth, Paul Smith, Roy Wilmott, John Kyte, Marcus Kierle etc etc and several of the best of the U18s have been given an opportunity.
Petts and the players have not been the problem....it all goes back to the committee stopping the club going up in my opinion.

George Best... some extensive input, you should register and become a member. You know we do allow people to post controversial comments, just so long as they are explained/justified/backed up.
Your comment may have been against the grain, but it wasn't ignorantly abusive. We welcome you to register, that way you will have more credibility and people will take more notice of what you are saying - instead of labelling you (a newcomer) a menace

Having played for sileby rangers under petts, i can tell u that he is not at fault. He is a decent manager aswell as a good bloke. Unfortunatley he has been let down by the commitee and a number of players this season. Had they gone up, who knows. But I would be very suprised if he isnt offered another job considering his record of producing trophies for ucl football clubs, ie thrapston, sileby.

lets be honest, most under18's would struggle physically in this league. Petts has had no choice but to throw these young lads in because he has been let down by some of the senior players.

there is plenty of under 18s that would be able to cope physically in this division! there has been 4 trialed and tested at huntingdon town...lee bassett, lee milton, shane fox and scott lindsay and none of them struggled physically
