Well as the season draws to a close, the one thing that needs to happen next year to gain a bit of credibility for the league is to have 3 officials in place. I was told that the Cambs FA leagues have a lower status than the UCL so they have to give their refs to us. Can that be true? If so can we look forward to a much fairer and better balanced games. I emailed my query to the Northants refs ass, as yet (two weeks later) they haven't replied. That deserves a red card,

Two hope's No Hope and Bob hope! There are simply not enough officials to achieve this.. I only wish there were!!! PLUS how would we pay for them? it would be between £600 to £800 a season per club!

Great to keep this debate a hot issue for the UCL.
Please keep reminding ourselves the the UCL is a Level 6 League.
It is not a local league.
How can the teams afford not to have 3 officials.
I recon a great starting point in this area - is to challenge the clubs themselves to take the initiative.
We all take a Linesman to each and every game. Let us take this position more seriously and search out those young qualified Linesmen that may feel they would like to become referees as a "sport" (cause lets face it, being a ref is a completely different sport to playing football).
If the clubs can look out and search out a linesman to pay a Tenner a week and travel with the team - they will meet different referees who will all give them pearls of wisdom that may help them develop and give them confidence to become Senior referees (better than reffing Sunday Div 5 as an entry point to refereeing) - and it would be less of a cost problem for the clubs as the travelling costs would be incorporated with the Club.
I recon then we will get more credibility and a lot fairer game (as bossall and many other people want to see).
It would be interesting to see how many referees per year qualify to be referees each year in our respective Counties - my bet would be quite a few - and I bet there is a database.
The UCL has a lot to offer potential refs.

Just read that posting again - bit of a monologue - sorry.
Posted on Friday night - I think still hung over from Wednesday nights celebrations!
Anyway the priciple is still there to give Div 1 more suitable officials.
Definitely an area that could use creative thinking and problem solving - unless you want the league to continue to have this issue hanging over them giving the perception of rank amateurs to all who attend the games!
Could be a good project for the League to look into the viability of encouraging new oficials into the game by assigning new officials to their nearest UCL Div 1 team - keeps everyones costs down whilst the recruitment of officials becomes easier to manage. - Good Linos then get promoted to refs or Lining for the league in the Prem ...etc
