Just curious to see what you views are about teams strength in depth. As we come into the xmas weeks and the bad weather and heavy and tricky pitches i,m sure teams will have injuries and will need to rest players, and just would like to see what feed back is from people about their teams squad strength. We seem ok at Wellingborough. Any views? HAYDN

I think that Yaxley have lost out on that area as quite a few players have left recently. Andy Chapman, Michael Goode et al.
The club are doing the right thing in trying to replace them from within where possible, but our youngsters aren't as far advanced as Blackstones.

With Newport Pagnell they lack experience. They have lost some of there experience from there midfield so sometimes lack a bit of control in against teams in midfield. They have brought some skillfull tallented youngsters into the first team which have a great future. At the moment Newport are reaching into there youth team when players are missing. Against Cogenhoe on saturday we only had 3 on the bench and one of them wasnt a goalkeeper! The team that have impressed the most were Boston. A very well organised strong in depth squad. But then again they do have some ex-professionals in there team. With Wellingborough i thought they were very good in midfield and up front but a little shakey at the back at times (Baring in mind I have only seen them once this season). In terms of Depth of your squad i cant see you guys having any trouble at all. I havent seen Spencer yet but i am looking forward to seeing them play NP.

I think the worry for Wellingborough is their pitch and the number of games that historically get called off and bumped to the end of the season. Any fixture pile up will put tremendous pressure on the players and if you have injuries it will not be easy to cover. As a result I think you need the strongest squad of all.

I agree John, The pitch has been a problem in the past, but we have worked on the pitch a great deal this year, and hopefully the work done this year will prevent games being called off like they were in the past. I also agree that when you do fall behind in games you end up having to play probably Sat-wed-sat to catch up, and it can be a strain on any team, so that,s the important on having strong squads.

Haven't you already had 1 game called off this season and we are only just getting to the wet stuff?

No I think it may have been a reserve fixture but had the first team been drawn at home then it would have been called off. It really doesn't matter which team because they will just get bumped into the final weeks. I remember a couple of years ago that (as a result of Cup runs), Whitworths were left to play 11 games in 21 days (both teams) but of those 11, nine were at home. The pitch got hammered.

I take your point John, I hope we are not in that situation, i think even on the best pitch inb the world that would have been hard work with that amount of games left to play. Our pitch wasn,t the best last year, but lets hope for our sake all the hard work done on the pitch this year will help us keep up with the games played.

It just shows what a complete state of disarray they must be in at Rowley Park. Steve Young the manager a 41 ish goalkeeper (and a really good one) played the entire match at centre forward for the match at Desborough on Saturday. To their credit I understand that the SAINTS were very unlucky to lose the match. , despite one/two players also failing to turn up.

I don't know why, but I am still amazed at the disarray at Rowley Park.

I don't know why, but I am still amazed at the disarray at Rowley Park. That make two of us. St Neots have a great future in terms of progress so you would think they would be able to attract the right players etc?

We seem ok at Wellingborough. Any views? HAYDN This strikes me as a bit of bragg? I think most clubs have to make do with what with got! I suppose we could ask to borrow some from you since it sound as if you got a stand full hidden away for rainy, snowy or too stuffed with christmas pud days

I certainly don,t come on here to bragg skip, i said our squad was ok. I was just curious to see what strength other teams have. Only time will tell whether we have the sqaud to win this league. I try to be honest and open minded on my views not to bragg.

Stability is the key to their success I reckon. They need to get through this season with this guy getting a side together for a concerted assault next term. All this whilst hopefully getting sorted off the field.
