We put in a 7-day approach for Jamie Darlow as he had let it be known to one of our players that he would be interested in coming to us. (that is player in the singular - you can't approach more than 1 a club per month).
After discussing this with Clippo he has decided to give it a go at Yaxley and good luck to him. We actually put in 3 7-day approaches in the last week and 2 have come off - this is as many as we did in the whole of last season!
Ended up with a decent enough squad and we are happy to go with what we have for now. Looking forward to seeing Jamie and the rest of the Yaxley guys on Saturday and then on with the real business the following week.

Went to watch PNS at Deeping last night (sorry Vince was going to come and say hello but did not stay for a pint afterwards as I did not have any money left after ridiculous £4 entrance charge). Have to say very impressed with what I saw and if you take away some poor defensive goals PNS were by far the better team and will still be a threat this season

Having paid myself to get in, I must say I was a bit surprised that the cost was so much for a friendly but that is Deepings perogative. In terms of officials, we both supplied our own linesman and Reg charges around £25 to ref locally.
Hope that swine flu outbreak has abated Clippo and that we don't have to hand out face masks at the gate Saturday?
We really wanted to play the team that we expected to put out first game of the season Saturday, but with Eddie Patten on holiday, Marcin Lubniewski working and injuries being carried by a number of plarers including Jon Harrison & Wayne Morris may be another experimental side with a couple of "Trialists" on show.

PNS completed their pre-season programme on Saturday when a weakened team beat a weakened Yaxley team 4-0. That's 4 games unbeaten against higher league opposition, but counts for nothing come Saturday when the tackles mean that little bit more and Buckingham will provide as tough to beat as they were on both occasions last year.
