it gets worse as it seems two Div 1 are joining other leagues. So is UCL football going down the pan?

Don't they have to be 'released' by UCL? 2 Clubs couldn't join last year cos their League wouldn't let them.

One way around losing numbers in Division One would be to allow Woodford Halse's reserve side play at level 6. Clubs playing at level 4 can enter a reserve team in level 6. The reserve side couldn't get promoted though unless their first team side went up to level 3. If the first team got relegated to level 5, the reserves would too.

I am some what of an outsider and have just started learning my management trdae at BSMFC, so I apologise to anyone that thinks this is none of my business. It may well not be as I do not know any prem managers or the work that they have put in.
However for 3 years I have had no money to pay players and last season I lost players such as Mike Anker, Tom O'Brien, Adam Baptist, Jamie Moss and Ben Thompson to prem sides in the UCL and Ridgedons league. To teams that can offer wages. This year also I have had players tempted to stop playing for us, their local side and join a higher team with poorer facilities.
Why have my club not been able to pay wages? well simply because we have HAD to improve every aspect of our facilities at great expense, we have forked out a small fortune to meet all directives and our football has taken a back seat to the big boys splashing the cash.
So if I am entitled to a say, then I would say you have all had the same or more notice than my club. If you have not met the standards to play at this level, then you have no right to be here. I hope the UCL sticks to it's word and gets rid of the teams that are not up to standard, after all we could all have saved our money and played on council pitches if we had wanted to.
To be honest some council pitches are a huge improvement on a few UCL grounds we have visited this season

A very good post 'tad'. Spot-on with the money situation. All the clubs have had plenty of time to upgrade their facilities & if they'd rather splash the cash on players rather than the ground itself, then i suggest they dont come on here moaning saying "we have'nt had the time".....RUBBISH !!! I applaud BSMFC in trying to improve facilities but players would rather play on a muddy crappy pitch with poor facilities & picking up a pay packet that would probably only be enough to get in a small round of drinks rather than play for a club that has tried it's upmost to improve the facilities for the players even if they are not getting paid. Players only seem interested in going to the club the offers the most money these day's & that is a real shame. In other words, & this may offend a few, they are nothing more than a bunch of 'Money grabbers & robbing glory pot-hunters' !!!!

Tad now you have your ground up to speck perhaps you can look at spending some money in other areas?
My opinion is that you have done it the right way by improving the club and as i understand it joining with the local youth set up, again only my opinion but any money available should be invested back into this to sustain the long term future of the club.
Unless you are Man U Chelsea so on i think that we all have to get use to losing players to the lure of £.
Unfortunately at Burton we have no money for players or facilities at present but what we do have goes straight back into the club ie kit, training, injured players, and hospitality.Things are about to change though and we have as you have joined with the local youth set up and the evidence was in the two teams out yesterday:first had 6 or seven under 21 and the ressies 10 under 21 which 6 were 17.
My belief is that we have got it right the same as you and alot of other clubs have it right and when boom and bust comes we should be safe and that the town village still has a club that young lads can start their playing days and people can come to support.
It may sound unambitious but it is my belief that the Ambition of any club should be to survive and supply some were for its local lads to inspire too play.Very wonderful life i know but there you go.

No quick fix mate just hard honest endeavour from a lot of people over a long period of time!!

My apologies, When Burton spoke to the NFA about joining with the local youth set up they advised us that BSMFC had done a very similar thing of late and that it was a model case of how it should be done. I believe they even advised us to talk with BSMFC I cant believe they got that wrong with all the contacts you have there. There you go you say something nice and there is always some jobs worth to rain on your parade. Thats it i am going back to i think you are up your selfs. ;D ;D ;D Up the PNS

Well April 10th was supposed to be key date when everyone knew where they stood, but according to todays Northants E.T. the management committee have chickened out, asked the FA for further guidance and are now saying that it could well be up to other clubs at the annual meeting on June 10th to decide if any premier div teams get relegated. What a farce - all this effort of inspections etc. etc. and as jeffl as has already noted, I can see now the two fingers being waved by some clubs that appear to have made little if any effort to comply. Will the gutless management committee reimburse those clubs that have spent thousands of hard earned cash on their grounds rather than players ? this cant be for real can it ? what a joke it would become
