Today we lost 2-1 at Irchester United meaning we are now bottom of the league and are the only side in the division who are yet to win all season.
This means so far we've picked up just two points out of a possible 21.
This might sound controversial to some but i feel in order to have a fighting chance of competing in the Premier Division next season we need a change of management.
Our hosts today Irchester have already done that bringing in Scott Goodwin who gave United their first win of the season and gave Daventry United a good run for their money the other day.

two wins so far - a team a division below and hard work against one 2 divisions below last week.
Thrashed at Spalding and therefore i agree with you, although i felt it should have happened some weeks ago...
Just an opinion....

Yet we lost 5-0 to a side one level below in the FA Cup and 5-1 to a division one side in the League Cup. Whilst it is good to see us on an FA Vase run we have to remember that the league is priority above every other cup we enter. For me it's not just the Spalding game, it's the fact we couldn't keep the Cogenhoe game 1-0 and the fact we had so many chances to get something out of today's game and ended up leaving with nothing to show for it.

Should have happened after being beat 10-1 by St Neots last year in my mind.
Sorry its time to change or be in Division1 next year. In fact when will be the next time that Desborough fans dont have to worry about relegation? Las t few seasons have been the same old story.... Flirt with relegation all season and just survive...

A decision of this nature must be made earlier on in the season [now] rather than later when the damage has really been done. The Committee will no doubt let the on field problems continue to spiral out of control. Let's bring Steve Noble back or prehaps Rob Dunion?

I must admit we are now bottom of the Premier Division as well as the ressies being bottom of Res Div 1. It really can't get much worse can it ? It wouldn't be so bad if we learnt from our mistakes, but, as a simple example, we insist on playing our best attack minded midfielders as full backs, a decent attack minded midfielder at centre half, and we wonder why we are shipping goals and why we can't score. Unfortunately instead of learning from our obvious mistakes, we just make the same ones over and over again.

The second game v Bugbrooke would have sealed it for me. Whilst obviously the manager has to ultimately carry the can bottom line is if the players aren't good enough....... The hurly burly nature of the UCL does not lend itself to free flowing ball retention football but the better sides have a bit of confidence in each others ability. It is a football not a hand grenade. All players have to buy into a footballing philosophy not just get it away from the goal asap generally via a long ball. A team playing decent football but getting beat would be marginally better than getting beat playing rubbish. Note managers quote pre Spencer game (to paraphrase) we are not going there to play any football!! Steve McLaren is available. If Kettering bring a decent side tomorrow, as match practice for their poor campaign, it could be a butchering. The alternative of course is let the results decide the strength of the team. If they are no good they get relegated. Alternatively again introduce performance related pay. Win 25% bonus, draw 50% of fee, lose nothing. saves money and also would make games more interesting seeing a team chasing the game all the time.

Will our committee actually rectify the situation on the pitch?
Truth is not one of them was present at the Irchester game.

Will our committee actually rectify the situation on the pitch? Truth is not one of them was present at the Irchester game. Your arguments might carry some weight if you at least got your facts straight. Several committee men were at the Irchester game and several others were on duty for the reserves win in the Junior Cup. If you would like to come forward and volunteer your services, I'm sure we could do with all the help we can get. However, I am of the opinion that the manager does whatever is required on the pitch. God help us if we tried to run the team by committee !

I'm not for one minute suggesting that the commitee runs the first team. I'm saying that we need someone who can keep us in the Premier Division come the end of the season.
From what i've seen recently Martin McLeod isn' t that individual.
I would happily get involved with the club if i was offered the chance...

Desboroughboy!! Res. Bottom yes, but we have only played 3 league games. Losing 2 of them 2-1 and drawing the other 2-2. We won again on Saturday in Lower Junior cup. But my arguement is this. Last year the reserves was an utter mess and were lucky to stay up. We have amassed a very good but also Brand new side!! Still Gelling. So atleast give me some grace!!

Hi all. cat has an interesting point. If memory serves 'Shanty' ran a scheme during Steve's tenure whereby players money WAS performance related.
Train (or play) Tuesday, train Thursday and play Saturday = 100%. Miss either midweek event and monies were deducted accordingly.
Didn't Ar Tarn finish in third place that year?

Interesting input fozwaldo. What everyone would do well to remember is that at DTFC players receive expenses only, as verified by HMRC. So if they trained Tues and Thurs and took their car to match on Saturday, then they are likely to receive more money. If you introduce any other scheme, it could be interpreted as earned income as therefore taxable and opens up enormous cans of worms. What other teams do is their business, if players are "on the books" OK, otherwise they need to be extremely careful.

In that case perhaps the 'expenses' structure need looking at and adjusted accordingly. By inference a player that gets a lift to training and to the game on Saturday gets nothing as he has incurred no expense. Just a thought.

Quite so porthos. I used the word 'money' rather than wages/expenses.
I believe the 'limit' for expenses is 40 quid.
