Bearing in mind the FA Review Group have documented only clubs 'fully compliant' with the F grade, check out the clubs in the Kent Premier and Essex Senior that either groundshare, have no seats (!) or no floodlights (!!) so how have they gained the grading? There's also a number of clubs that don't play in the area the club name suggests. 5 or 6 miles in the South London area really does indicate an entirely different area. It has to be questioned that if clubs in the South have blagged it so far. then is the expectation they'll continue to do so? Clearly some clubs in those leagues should not be at Step 5, therefore with full compliance required, we should see relegations, less teams and the possibility that the Kent and Essex Leagues merge- that brings the 14 to 13- one to go!

The Fisher article is a great read and so accurate. Nice to see somebody else appears to be on the case as well. As an aside to the foundryman's post, we're due another Ground Grading visit on Feb 6th by the FA no less. I assume they will be visiting Kent at the same time!

Does anyone know what happened at the FA's regional meetings at Aveley on 15 January, and Leeds on 22 January?

Currently the Essex League average round-trip is 68 miles and the Kent League is 92.6 miles with the longest journey being 64 miles. However note that much of the Kent mileage is spent on the M2. (Travelling into Norfolk and Suffolk of course there is no motorway routes). The Kent League ironically would have a different average mileage but for ground-sharing. Herne Bay and Canterbury City ground-share although they are ten miles apart. The same goes for Greenwich Borough and Holmesdale who are eight miles from their place of birth in South Norwood. Basically it's the equivalent of S&L Corby sharing with Desborough Town. Consider that at S&L we would have four one-way trips over 100 miles- I guess the same will be for Wellingborough and Irchester. Pretty certain Great Yarmouth and Gorleston feel even worse as they'll be heading south a bit more regularly.

So now the last 16 of the Vase are known, and only 1 league (the Northern which never promotes and is really much stronger than step 5) has more teams remaining than us. The Midland Alliance is the only other with 2. The UCL is clearly providing a decent standard which it's members are happy with, why can't the FA just leave things alone

According to the Lincs FA representative at the Raunds meeting, not everyone in the FA is aware of what's going on.
This is a sort of 'Star Chamber' at work. :-O

They wish to keep Sussex Div1 as Step 5.Further details from the meeting will be forthcoming soon. Also watch out on the Nomadonline Forum, under Sussex County league to Disband?"

Hi guys Forgive my ignorance in all this but as a realtively new committee at the club alot of this has passed over our heads. We fully understand whats going on and we know it will have serious effects on step 5 clubs in our area regarding travelling expenses and officilas to which we thoroughly back them in their defence of saving the UCL. We as a step 6 club will be affected at some point that we know and expect. What i would like to know is if all step 5 clubs in our area went down to step 6 to form a new league(s) and to save expenditure and save the UCL how would they feel about it? Dont shoot me down guys..its just a thought to save football in our area

Line oh,
It is a fair question, if it's a lost cause and the Ucl fails to hold on to their status step 6 clubs would be affected much sooner than the step 6 review, consider a number of points; the actual costs we are talking about for prem clubs is so serious starting next season clubs could be seeking demotion, why would they need to wait if it is certain the UCL is being affected. Others may wait one more season, assume such numbers decide the move to other leagues is not for them and the current div 1 becomes too large then clubs with lower facilities will have to go to step 7.
Consider the financial viability of the league, they still need to operate, their income will be drastically reduced think if 10-15 Prem clubs leave, doubtful if reserve football will be affordable for some, and impractical for fixtures secretary with first teams in 4 or so leagues, clubs have been told it will affect everybody. We have 24 level 4 referees too..... We all have to fight..........get letters into FA we only have 5 days to get them to Wembley.
