James Warrener did a great piece before me - very elloquent and knowledgable. The BBC seemed very interested in the value of the land for building if the football club folded - which of course is not part of our plan nor what we want to talk about. We did get the absurdity of the current FA suggestions across and the Parish Council Vice Chairman was also very supportive of what we've done and our role in the village sporting community for now and the future aspirations of youngsters.

The league have also announced they are at print with their response to the FA example, a measured comprehensive document containing 100% support from the clubs, a lot of detail to discredit the example. There is a lot of support from across the country coming in now, well done to those in getting the word out, now we have to wait for our invite to Wembley to table our views. Three separate articles in the Peterborough ET, and more support in the Eastern Daily Press with an article from Great Yarmouth chairman, same theme - travel, time and cost.

Ian, good numbers and some great comments on the petition - how are we getting these in front of the FA - is there some form of "download the signatories and comments" facility? Let me know 'coz I'd love a copy.

Jeff Have just listened to it on you tube Jeff, did I tell you I claimed a bit of turf behind the dugout the last time I visited ................... A message from our sponsor A VIEW FROM THE TERRACES
With regard to the well documented opposition to the headline proposals, and as an interested party I offer my personal thoughts on the situation, for what their worth.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY
It is obvious to all concerned that the overwhelming feeling of the affected clubs in the CHROMASPORT and TROPHIES UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE, RIDGEONS, HELLENIC and MIDLAND ALLIANCE LEAGUE remain united against the proposals. Those of us who like to be considered rather passionate about the’ best game in the universe’, are rightly concerned for their future, and that the consequences could start a slide of amateur grass root football across the country. Grass roots football is the lifeblood of the football world! Let us not price it out of the reach of the average club at this level.
Your mobilisation and galvanising of the ‘rank and file’ is to be applauded, and I know that you, along with your superb team of officers and other leagues, have spent a great deal of time and money agonising over this complex issue. A number of clubs I have spoken to are more than concerned about the significance of increased costs, travelling times, and sponsorship reduction if these proposals are implemented.
The governing body are anything but stupid, some may say misguided, but not stupid. They know the situation and I hope are willing to find a compromise. So when the next meeting takes place, let us hope common sense will prevail. It is a time for calm and structured dialogue, not table thumping, accusation and finger pointing.
There are very few in this world that have not made a misjudgement, I am sure the clubs will give the FA the grace and time to find an acceptable solution. Progression, not aggression. As Gandhi once said “An eye for an eye, only leads to blindness”.
As the proud sponsor of the United Counties League and the Peterborough and District Football League, I wish your campaign every success and if I can be of assistance at any time, you know where I am.
My parting thought of today on this matter:
“We are not retreating, we are advancing in another Direction” - General Douglas MacArthur.

Great letter from our sponsor, a massive thank you to him.
Let's keep the pressure on the FA, get more players supporters etc to sign the petition.

Splendid and worthy rhetoric Micky V - sound and rational.
Having spoken to so many over recent weeks there is deep and apparently well founded distrust of the FA's motives. That is what the fuss is about, not accusing them of being stupid - just the opposite. There are so many who have stories of having been given the rough end of the stick after first being trusting. Once bitten and all that!
Some of us think that the FA are in fact being very, very clever ...
Remember, in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king!
Thanks for your support Micky - sincerely appreciated. Jeff

Well guys, the FA now have our official responce to their example, your clubs should have a cd rom copy today, we understand the review committee will meet next on 19th March with a view of sending their report to the next leagues committee meting whenever that is.
Keep the canvassing going, we need county FA's to give representation if they will, it impacts on Step 6 down through all of the grassroots, a Step 7 league has just learned of issues and going to make their representation to FA.
Save the UCL!
