Having heard what has happened today at The Walks, it seems that 'fair play' was certainly not applied at todays game. The match was currently all square at 1-1 when a player went down injured. Kings Lynn kicked the ball back to Thrapston with the ball going over the keeper & into the net. Ok, now most teams would be happy to accept that this was a freak chance of a kick & that they would happily let the opposition score straight from kick-off to level the match in a case of 'fair play'. This wasn't the case today as no gesture was offered or allowed from Kings Lynn for Thrapston to be able to do this . Needless to say Kings Lynn went on to win the game 5-1. I suppose when your at the bottom, you just dont get the rub of the green.

Just watched it on "Youtube". Kings Lynn players and management should be ashamed. They could have rectified this by allowing Thrapston to walk through and score but they didn't. Reason they didn't is because it was 1-1 at the time and it put them 2-1 up. If it had happened at 5-1 what would they have done!! Cheats, no other word for it. Judge for yourselves. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b61t8dp5usg&feature=youtu.be

very unsporting in my opinion, and not happy with it. but "cheats" is a bit strong. so one of your players has not feigned injury, took a dive in the box etc. thats cheating in my book. let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

If the ball has been kicked out of play for an injured player to be treated, then the opposition should play the ball back fairly. Thrapston have been fair to kick the ball out of play, they dont have too, but thats called 'fair play'. Its obvious & clear to everyone that the player deliberately shoots at the goal when to beat the keeper & for them to not allow Thrapston a free chance to score, that i my & everybody else's opinion is 'CHEATING' !!

Well said Delboy. Diving and feigning injury Baldystud are now unfortunately part of the game but what KL did today has crossed that line regarding sportsmanship in the game and will tarnish KLs reputation even more no matter what you say or think.

Apparently King's Lynn were in possession when the ref stopped play because a Thrapston player was writhing about injured in KL's box. As soon as play was stopped that "injured" player leapt to his feet "uninjured". Cheat!!! KL had been stopped from attacking by a dubious bit of play-acting. Thrapton did not deserve to have the ball played to them. So much for the "spirit of the game".

The clip does not show the lead up to the drop ball, but if you look at Luke Thurlbourne he has a look and sees the keeper off his line and this is quite clearly a shot rather than a mis hit kick back to the keeper - Luke is then seen celebrating the goal.
Personally hate all of this kicking the ball out of play and stopping the game for every injury - it came in for really serious injuries but IS now abused.
However, that does not excuse Luke and an uncontested drop ball should not be abused like that - Kings Lynn's ability to attract the wrong sort of headlines appears to continue to be in rude health

I'd agree with all of that Tommy, certainly there was a lack of sportsmanship here, but I'd like to go back to the situation where the ref was the one who decided whether or not an injury was serious enough to immediately stop the game. There is too much feigning of injury particularly at higher levels.

I don't think you can catagories this a 'cheating', however when you watch the clip it does look like the player 'goes for goal' rather than playing the ball safely back. Would that not constitute unsportsmanlike behaviour and a booking?

Never wrote on here before as never felt the need but after reading and seeing the clip of the goal, I have 2 say KL fans and anyone associated with them should hold their heads in shame......an absolute embarrassment 2 the league, football and idea of sportsmanship.....regardless of whether the player went down feigning injury or not, it is an unchallenged drop ball which 2 everyone's knowledge indicates the ball is 2 be played back safely 2 the keeper, regardless of whether u agree that play should've been stopped or not, how anyone from KL can defend what they did is beyond me!

the sooner they are out of this league the better plus they should be ordered to replay the match

Whether the goal should have been allowed or not,or whether it was unsportsmanlike or not,why has no-one questioned the behaviour of the Thrapston players and staff at half time?

If it had happened against us I'd have been pretty upset as well AND while everyone keeps having a pop at each other, why not take the logical route. Who is in charge of the game? And that's probably where the error belongs. Yes players cheat, take advantage, do anything to win an advantage - call it what you will. It's become an unsporting part of our national game and IMHO is detrimanetal.
I'll wager that had the ref disallowed the kick and made KL take it again, there would be little argument from either side.
