Interesting comments on the relative forums but this one certainly catches the eye:
Re: Saturday - all out to win or hold back for promotion? by The Ridler » Thu Mar 17, 2011 12:35 am
Gooner, you strike the nail on the head with your comment, could not agree more. Especially as if we did win we are likely to face St Ives away on a Thursday night and knowing our luck it would be the Thursday before we go away to the Linnets.
St Ives on a Thursday night before travelling to Lynn.........I've momentarily forgotten who the Fixture Secretary is, um..............Good luck to you both tomorrow and let's hope it's another great advert for the UCL, both on and off the pitch, would have made a great final for us ALL to see. Enjoy.

Apparently St Neots will put their reserves out against us? Very sorry if i think thats a crock of s***,there is only one team that St Neots are desperate to turn over, not many clues, but said team has already beaten them twice this season.I can't speak for our management, but i would want to see a strong team out there, make it 3 out of 3,especially with their dodgy keepers.A win for either side is a moral boost, they need to beat us,they have something to prove. ;D

Allegedly St Neots may be forced to pull out due to fielding an ineligible player, only rumour at the moment, but watch this space.

From the St Neots website:
News | CLUB STATEMENT ON LEAGUE CUP V KINGS LYNN We would like our supporters to know the events leading up to and after the signing of Gavin Strachan.
Gavin was on a one year contract with his previous club, and therefore we understand before we could sign him on a non contract basis, his contract had to be cancelled and verified by the FA, we were under the impression that this was completed on the Friday before the Saturday league cup game, so as Gavin would be legible to play for us on the Saturday. Unfortunately the FA clearance did not happen until the next working day which was the Monday after the game.
Upon us finding this mistake we immediately contacted the registrations secretary of the UCL and informed him what had happened, he thanked us for our honesty and indicated the matter would be brought up and dealt with at the next UCL meeting, we also out of courtesy contacted the Kings Lynn manager and explained the situation and apologised to him for what had happened.
We are very sorry for this and would hope that our supporters understand that mistakes can happen, in this case it is a lesson to be learned "Dont sign players on a Friday".
Doh..........St Ives Town v Kings Lynn Town in the semi now then. Playing an ineligible player and all that, think the precedent is set, professional set-up, or what! It really is about handling the pressure, or so they tell me, we've never been anywhere near as successful as St Neots. Not gloating, just pointing out the facts.
On a more serious note, in St Neots' and ALL Club's favour, as SATURDAY IS A WORKING DAY for Football, why isn't it for the FA bigwigs and jobsworths?

Precedent I believe is expulsion. Bagging the winner won't help!

Sounds like a well worked cunning plan to me, play the game, beat Lynn (whatever the team selection was) then let them have to play the next round away at St Ives, possibly mid week.

Looks like st neots played Gavin Strachan on saturday before he was cleared by the F.A and therefore was ineligible to play against King Lynn in the cup. Does this mean Kings lynn get put through to the next round of the cup or will the league bottle it?? www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=74360

The only thing is us at KLTFC don't want to go through as it means more games when we have the tightest of run ins for the league. Which we hope we are still involved with at the end of the season. Conspiracy theory says St Neots did it on purpose ;D just in case they did win they could then get out of playing the next game ........
A lot can still happen between now and the end of the season, St Neots have a fantastic squad of players no doubt about it but we have a great TEAM who play for each other. Plus you still have other teams who could make a late run in - i have to say the hardest team we have played so far has been PNS even though the likes of Deeping - L.Bucby - beat us away .
We have have been amazed at how well we have done this season as its our first season as a team after the crap of last year when we didn't even know if we would have a team to support.
We have been made to feel welcome in most places this season a couple of occasions not so but there you go, what ever happens at the end of the season we have enjoyed it purely to have a team to follow.

St Neots played a cup tied player in the Hinchenbrooke Cup two seasons ago and got away with it, I'm sure they get away with it again with the rules bent to suit them.
