I have to agree with footballfan. Just because Whitworths get beat by a rejuvenated BPW everyone automatically assumes that the wheels have come off. When will everyone realise that for once Div 1 has become more competitive with most teams more than capable of taking points off one another. I was at the game on the last but one Boxing day fixture between Whitworths and BPW and footballfan is right when he says that Burton were only 10 secs away from winning that game as well. BPW had a tremendous result on Saturday but don’t let’s forget that other so called strugglers such as Eynesbury and Sileby also caused an upset in their recent games against ONs and Huntingdon respectively. Who knows perhaps it may be the turn of Irchester this coming week although I think the words pig, flying and window automatically spring to mind!!

Without people mentioning faltering performances and giving their own views on players and formations, whats the point of having this forum? We all read the newspapers and form opinions about games or players we havent watched so why cant we do the same with games we have watched involving our local clubs? Im sure everyone had a view on Sven without meeting to man, you just listened to the papers drivel and then add on your own piece. I havent attacked any players or criticised the management, I havent named any player in a negative manner nor would I.
This is football and all about opinions. You dont have to agree or disagree, just appreciate that I have an opinion that differs to yours. I have seen whitworths play and as a paying supporter have the right to say , comment on what I want.
What do you think of that then?

I think your being a bit defensive there BB as you quite rightly said it is all about opinions and that is what makes it great and people shouldn't take things personally. your latest post is very contradictory all people have done is disagreed to what to many others is a very valid point and at no time has any one who has had an opposite view to you been personal or totally trashed your opinion all I'm doing is giving a view from a club that perhaps would like the worries of whits, after all by the end of the season i would like to bet that there are far more clubs wishing to swap places with them.

After re-reading my last excitable post, I agree, it was contradictory. Now that hurt.

BB. Calm down!!! Getting excitable in later life can be dangerous. Have a sit down, put your slippers on and read Joe's column in the ET.

Been away for a few days but good thread and whilst all entitled to own opinions I think our boy at irchester is still celebrating Christmas. Yes we have a few issues this season but then we were never going to repeat last season and the club has had plenty to deal with this season both on and off the field with funding and building works scheduled so tough all round.
Players lost true but part of our role as a non paying club is to bring lads through and help them to move on to better things. In fact though it is not just Foz, Ben and Sporty. Everyone forgets Ross Howes and Scott Whitney.......so the spine of last seasons team gone and now we start again developing and bringing on young talent.
The comment about losing 40 goals............if that were only true.......in fact Fozzie got 34 and Ben 22 plus Matty Freeman got 20 and Sporty a handful (I know Matty still with us b4 anyone says). So closer to 70 goals all told.

I think with SS now at BPW your troubles may get worse JJ. No doubt the great man will be looking to recruit a few of his old stalwarts from the club. Ollie (who is a terrific player), Maca, Devon, Jamie Black (he is a big fan of his) and Carvell are a few names that spring to mind.

As far as Rendell, Mclaren and Ellwood following mr Scully, I cant see it happening. Firstly, why should they leave again? Surely they have learnt that the grass isnt greener over the other side of the fence. Deven in particular had only a few games before returning to whits, arguably with his tail between his legs. People will say that these players are free to do what they want and its true. The thing is , if it goes tits up again, who will have them back? No loyalty and no continuity, I would imagine that they have all learnt valuable lessons. Secondly, Jarvis and Black only played with mr Scully for 3/4 season. What makes you think they would leave their local successful club and join a club in another town that is struggling at the moment. They are both 1st tram players so what could mr Scully offer? As far as Rendells 'mistake', he's a defender and defender makes mistakes. That, I'm afraid is part of the territory. How you can say he's a poor player baffles me. Young, quick, strong and good on the ball. Admittedly his temperament can be questioned but so can rooneys, vierras and gascoignes. What makes him so bad in your eyes alfredstreeter? Is it because of all the above reasons and you would like a good local player like Ollie playing from your club? Hmmmmmmm let me think? Good point JJ, many have forgot about Ross and Scott and how important they were for the club. What do you think is the problem at the moment/ Is it a short term thing or a reality check? The 2 Huntingdon are so important for the club, lets keeps all our fingers crossed eh alfredstreeter!

I don't mean to come between your online tiff (Billyboy & Alfredstreeter) but to set the record straight Ollie made a huge contribution during his short time at Corinths and I stand by what i said earlier that he is a superb player and would grace most Div 1 defences. It seems to me that some of the players at London Road are all too quick to bitch about their team mates behind their backs when things are not going well. ( no different to most teams in that regard I suppose). I seem to remember the squabble between Patto and Witney at half time during the Dav Town match.
However, don't underestimate the pursuasive powers of SS when it comes to getting his man!!! (or men/ boys)

Merko,I do enjoy your comments and I do feel you talk a lot of sense but have I missed something here. I think the "Squabble" between Patto and Scott was actually a conversation between two team mates, Patto and the Goose as to how they could "improve" things in the second half !!!
