wHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE FLOURMEN AT THE MOMENT? The results have gradually been getting worse and worse. Games have been thrown away, won by the scruff of the neck and not to mention Daventry Town. Points have been dropped against arguably lesser opposition and after todays result versus BPW, things are getting worse. I dont want take nothing away from corinths, buckingham, irchester, r&h or especially BPW but this is not what whitworths have been about over the last 3 or4 years. I know that anyone can beat anyone on their given day and no-one has a divine rite to win football matches(check out 3rd round fa cup) but this is a worrying time for a team who potentially could be in the prem next year. Whats the problem?
The reserves seem full of young lads who could play at div 1 level, should they have an opportunity? Are the lads in the 1st team to comfortable in their places? Is the league harder than last year or are whitworths not as good?
I know players have left and teams get injuries but unfortunately thats football. All teams lose players and carry on entertaining and being successful (PNS), its par for the course. Unfortunately at the moment, they dont look like they're 'promotion' material, this could be a blessing in disguise. I hope that they start winning again or at least be a little more attractive with their game. Division 1 is a merciless league where you can be making 'unbeatable' headlines one year and be 'flash in the pans' the next. I'd would like to hear any other interesting views on whitworths current form(8 point in 7 games).

Billy B, You make good sense with what you say and like you I feel there are kids in the reserves who could do a job but only do a job, no more. You say lesser oposition, but are they lesser if they are beating or drawing with Whits. Are Whits getting into the Spurs or Newcastle syndrome of thinking they are better than they are. Basically, they cant defend ,And you know like I do that if you cant defend you dont win. Also the fear factor has gone, teams aint frightened to play Whits any more.

Over the last 3 or 4 years, the likes of irchy and BPW have been bottom half at best. Whitworths have been top 4. Whits have had a good group coming through together over the last few years and results have been good. Although I agree with you disagreeing with me about the quality of said sides but most teams in Division 1 would fancy their chances against either team. I dont doubt that people from either club will feel deeply offended by these comments, if so I apologise. The thing is, I think Whits are trying and working hard but they dont seem to be as good as most opponents. Defensively they look sluggish apart from Gorman. The formation seems to change to suit individuals and up front they lack that spark that all good teams have. You are right, teams arn't afraid to play whits anymore and rightly so. I know this all seems negative but if the club is going to continue to flourish as a whole then it has to start on the pitch. I have to disagree with the reserves issue. Niall Belfon, Carl Mclaren, James Wager especially could all match or even better current performances in the 1st team. If either had a sustained run, they would benefit the team. Question is, would the 1st team lads play in the ressies to get their shirt back?

BB. when I put my comments earlier I almost put down what you said. Wager has earnt a chance and if Whits are not careful they will loose him, I know he has got attitude but thats not such a bad thing, Macca, I am his biggest fan, gives 100% all the time and young Belf will be (IS) a good player. Would the first team lads go into the ressies and fight to get back, We both know the answer to that!!!

whitworths have a very strong squad and i think there are clearly 4 or 5 players that are good enough for the 1st team. i believe too many players are in their comfort zone and joe maybe afraid of upsetting them if they are dropped. defensively they have been very poor this season and in all fairness they have only lost sporty fozzy ben which are all atacking players so something is going wrong somewhere?

bit harsh although i would say they have very ego levels in which there performances are meeting these. i wouldnt say rejects i would say they have got a variety of experience youngsters and settled players in a comfort zone

Alfred Streeter, remember that song"One eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater" Story goes that it was based on a bloke that used to drink in Irch W.M.C. He never knew if his Gran was his uncle or his dad was his sister, Few problems over there!!! As for being a reject, thats rich coming from Irchester, Mind that A45, its got more than 3 cars on it at once and those orange lights are not stars, only street lights.

to be honest i agree with billyb id prob say 80% of the res are good enough for the 1st team, but im sorry to say that its the same story of players knowing there not going to get dropped from 1st team and if they did there egos are to big to play "resereve team football" It should fall down to those in form play 1st team or at least given a chance (not just 5mins at end of game) Reserves have a good strong squad and those above them should be fearing for there shirts but they wont as everyone no's they wont get there chance. As harsh as it might sound thats the truth and people at whits no it.

Since joining the league this year, I have been disappointed in the level of jealousy that is evident against any team that is either successful or seems to have a few bob. This comes through in the current unbelievable thread about Daventry Town changing their manager or Whitworths who have just lost their first league game in 8. My own experience of the Whitworths guys has been of decent people, passionate about their team, but certainly not arogant or lording their superb year last season. Throughout the league tis the season to be drawing, and with nothing to choose between so many sides I expect this to continue as well as a win some lose some record.

I don't know of any teams that could deal with the loss of Foster, Holley and Spaughton. 40 goals a season between them 3.

WO,WO, WO, Tommyc! There isnt no jeasously involved in this thread. Its about a local team playing within themselves and supporters concerned for their future success. I havent slated whitworths in any way, just asked questions about certain issues and hoped for answers. Lets not get me paired with the intellect of alfredstreeter who is obviously on a mission to take the spotlight away from his club's recent successes. As far as Dav Town goes, I think that you wont be the first or certainly not the last club to have a few quid, win the league, enjoy the prem, then come back to where you belong. Remember Harrowby, I know, your stories different, we've heard it all before. Enjoy your day in the sun while it lasts. You are a good side, you can definately play and there is no jealousy involved. Good luck. Once again, strikers are only as good as the team around them. Daldy scored forty goals less than 4 seasons ago, freeman regularly scores 10-15, symington has played prem football, jarvis is beginning to contribute. Is that enough? Isnt it about replacing your players to continue your success? If they're not up to scratch then give someone else a chance. Finally................................................................................................................................... Im not having a pop in any way at whitworths players or management, I wish them every success.

I would just like to add my views to this thread and suggest that there is no big problem down at whits and in actual fact i would suggest quite the opposite I could name virtually all the ucl clubs that would like to be having the problems that whits are having still mathematically able to win the league and more likely than not going to Finnish second(my opinion of course)the facts are if they did beat Burton on saterday then they would be second and nobody would be on here if you was to ask anyone at whits which club were the closest to stopping there unbeaten run last year and the answer believe it or not was Burton we were winning at there place with 10 seconds to go, Also they have set themselves a virtually imposable target of emulating last seasons achievements which i have to say were nothing short of unbelievable, if Dave town were not in the very enviable position of having cash managers and players that should walk this league and i honestly wish them all the best then whits would be challenging to win the league again. I just wish that Burton had the same worries as the champs life would be a lot easier and now be honest with yourselfs do you wish the same for your club proberly.
