Fozzy was always going to make it at Prem level. Not wanting to be too disparaging about Carvell I just don't think he is ready for the step up. He still needs a few more season's in Div 1 before he can class himself as an accomplished striker at this level

Colin does seem to try these players out and when it doesnt work, lets them go again. I agree that CJ isnt good enough for the prem...yet. I think that CJ is a short term thing to help Raunds out this season then he will be shipped back to Whitworths. It would be interesting to see who approached who? On the recent form of Whitworths, It seems that its going to be a tough struggle to get 2nd spot. Players are still coming and going week to week so its going to be tough for the manager to keep any sort of continuity. On the plus side, the reserves have some great prospects finding their feet this year and should be ready to press for a first team spot next year.... that is if Wellingborough or Raunds dont come after them first!

Who's been coming and going then billyboy. I know Foxy has brought in his old mucker Shaun but who else? Don't get too disheartened about 2nd spot. Any team who puts a good run together from hereonin will be in with a shout and that includes Whitworths. Corinths has a big game tomorrow against Bucks. If they scoop all 3 points then there will be a genuine belief that they could be in the mix. Anything short and the self doubt will be niggling away again. By the way the game has been switched to Corinths as Bucks have had a break-in at their ground

Didnt see the game yesterday but heard it was poor stuff all round. Second spot would be a massive ask at this stage and way out of Whitworths reach. Bugbrooke were better than their position suggests....so they say!
CJ apparantly played up front for Whitworths so is the Raunds transfer talk a wind up?
I think that Joe probably got out at the right time with his reputation still intact.
Lets hope Huntingdon at home this week is not the 4th straight loss
Cmon you Flourmen!!!!!

BB, I watched the first team yesterday. First half, not bad ,in fact should have had the job done and dusted, but second half, total surrender. Yes, CJ played up front, apparently the big money and bright lights at Raunds are not all they could be. Kev has got a lot of work to do but I think he and Steve know that.

First half was not the ideal come back game for me considering Whitworths dominated us and had it not been for 2 poor strikes in front of goal and a couple of tight offside calls, we could of been 4-0 down after 40 minutes.
But after we'd struggled through the wind and pace of the lad up front in the first half we got a goal against the run of play to go in at 1-1. And I think that's where Whits lost the heart. We came out feeling relieved to be well in it and a couple of quick strikes from Will Briscoe in the second half to complete his hatrick finished the job.
A scrappy 4th goal really makes the scoreline tell the wrong story - I thought Whitworths were much better than that. But the difference I guess was in the finishing - we probably only had 5 chances in the entire game and a fluke charge-down that went in - Whits had arguably 10 chances and didn't take them.

Gerrard,Fair assessment but I did feel that second half your lads were more up for it than Whits. A side should never loose heart at any time but surely not at 1-1.

Agreed - they just seemed to lose that urgency and pace from the first half after the break. I can't remember too much about the second half - I was too busy breathing out of my backside and counting down the minutes until I got injured again!

Very decent comments gerrard and nice to have a chat with you in the bar afterwards. If you don't shoot at goal you cannot score and we just didnt shoot in the second half. Hope that Kevin and the boys can sort it in time for saturdays game with Huntingdon where a double would be welcome. Certainly in the bar the players seem to know what they are not doing so hope in training this week it gets sorted. Good luck to you boys anyway and thanks for taking the time to socialize.

My pleasure - I should also say thanks for the sarnies - they actually tasted freshly made that day!!
Having spoken in person and without the misguided interpretation the internet provides sometimes - I can see why and what you mean about Whitworths - it's fair and frank for a club to acknowledge where it's level is and where it's future lies.
I didn't even get wound up by the "old man" comments from the sidelines this week. Mind you, I looked and felt 40 not 30!

Im still not happy. Four defeats in a row and who knows how many to follow? Whitworths are, for a short time, the reigning league champions, if division one history is anything to go by, it wont happen again for a while. The teams in the past who dont go up end up folding, losing players, losing momentum and losing support. Sileby, Cottingham, Higham Town all spring to mind. The thing is, it looks like the players have accepted the league is a one horse race and have given up all hope of continuing the form of the last few seasons. I can accept Dav Town are a good side and deserve the league champions mantle, I also believe they'll be back in Div 1 within 3 seasons(money dont last forever and there's always another club with more around the corner).
It would be good to see Whitworths playing with belief and pride again especially as people are paying to watch them nowadays. I think Buckingham Town will be another tough fixture on Saturday and on current form the Bucks should be favourites. Lets hope I'm wrong.
The reserves seem to be plodding along nicely in a league that can sometimes be merciless. If they can maintain they're mid table form, it would be a good first season for Mayesey and his young players.
Overall,

I have got to say this and I am sorry if I upset people but this is football and its not personal. Its about time Whits stoped being nice to everybody and faced some harsh facts. Whits are at the moment the champions but that is long gone now. Fozzy,Ben,Sporty,CJ and maybe Luke have gone and never been replaced, its ok saying its good to see them doing so well at their new clubs and we are so proud etc.etc. Thats tosh!!! they should still be playing for the champions, what are we,a selling club for the big boys??? Aint never going to win nothing thinking like that. Players have come in,to young,to old,not good enough but it just aint happening,we cant defend and after we let a goal in its heads down and goodnight. Lads, its about pride and winning at all cost, sod being good losers and Mr nice guy,we should be hurting like hell. Sorry if I have upset anybody but losing dont come easy in my book, winning becomes a habit but so does losing. Sort it out,end the season with pride and dignity like the champions we ARE!!!!!

Upsetting people? I dont think so. You hit the nail on the head and by the sounds of it have enough passion to be playing yourself. I agree totally, there is too many players using our club as a stepping stone. I know you cant tie them down to the goalposts but at least they could show a little bit of loyalty. The new manager is already underpressure and the players are willing the end of the season along. We need passion and pride and dare I say it , someone like...............SCULLY. The players dont seem capable of motivating themselves so someone has to do it for them. It is a disgrace that Whitworths are currently, on form, the worst team in div 1. Why? How long have you got? Forwards labouring through games safe in the knowledge that they aint going to be dropped, certain midfielders lacking confidence and passion, defenders looking who to blame and a goal keeper who wont be around for much longer. As most people know, there is work that should be begun by the end of the season and unfortunately we havent a team to match the new grounds possibilities.
Im not hammering the team for the sake of it, I just think that they should be grateful for where they play and who they play for and show it every saturday afternoon. The ucl is a tough league, if you have no passion or pride then stay at home on saturdays and watch Geoff Stellling on SKY.
This isnt the most motivating and inspiring comment before another big game but as Pringle says some things have to be said. Still, lets not make it 6 on the bounce and finish the season with a few wins. Cmon boys, roll your sleeves up and show us what you got.
